What colors are your rules and what does it mean?
Sometimes red, other times brown or very light, the color of your period can change and say a lot about your health. We tell you more.
Who has never wondered why their menstrual blood has changed?
Above all, it is important to point out that all women are different and each shade of blood has a particular meaning.
Rest assured, a change in the color of blood does not necessarily rhyme with "health problem", quite the contrary.
From menstruation to bright red blood
Menstrual blood is red when it drains quickly. This means that everything is fine and that you are in good health. So there is nothing to be alarmed about. It's usually this color at the beginning or middle of your menstrual cycle.
Menstrual periods with burgundy or brown blood
It is possible that at certain times in your cycle, your period may change from red to burgundy or even brown. If this is the case, don't panic.
This is due to the fact that the blood is in contact with the ambient air, which causes the blood to oxidize and therefore, change color. This color change often occurs at the end of the cycle or when the flow is not abundant.
However, if you notice dark bleeding outside your period, it is recommended that you consult a doctor.
Pink or light red blood menstruation
Is your blood clear? This means that it is the start of your period and that red blood is mixing with your discharge. So there is nothing to worry about. However, pink or light red blood can also mean that you are pregnant. If in doubt, it is recommended that you take a pregnancy test and consult a doctor.
Orange blood menstruation
Finally, your blood might be orangish, if this is the case, this may be due to the fact that you have a urinary tract infection.
We therefore advise you to consult a specialist to get treatment as soon as possible. Urinary tract infections are not to be taken lightly and must be treated quickly.
